EMAIL SCAMS- BE AWARE !

15 08 2008

Some of the best advice that I ever got was that common sense isn’t so common. Thus said, I wanted to make you all privy to the new market of email scams- THE LOTTERY.

For those who have been receiving emails about winning loads of money, ITS A SCAM. First off, you will find that many of the words are misspelled, the contact is in a foreign country, or a merger of companies that don’t exist. They tell you to not tell anyone else and call a toll free number. DO NOT CALL. That is how they get their money; they charge ridiculous amounts of money for the call and all you are left with is a huge phone bill.

If you receive and email stating:

  • You won a Microsoft/ Yahoo Lottery
  • That there are no beneficiaries for a wealthy deceased person and you have been chosen to share the estate
  • You wont the Irish Lottery
  • You have been chosen to become an investor in an oil company
  • Any lottery in which you have not  entered and you “suddenly” win
  • To call a number immediately and not tell anyone else.
…….THEY ARE ALL SCAMS!!!!!!
You can always google the information presented in the email to check if it is a scam.
DO NOT OPEN  ANY ATTACHMENTS IN THE EMAIL or Respond!!!!!
